January 1 is Deadline to Transfer Party Affiliation for Presidential Primary

Only registered voters of the major party holding a primary, Republican or Democrat, may vote in that party’s primary should one be required.

Members of minor parties (Independent, Working Family, Green Party and Libertarian) or unaffiliated voters (not a member of any party) are not eligible to vote in either primary.

If you are registered with one party (major or minor) but would like to vote in the primary of a different major party, you must change your party affiliation no later than midnight January 2, 2024.

Voters who are registered unaffiliated (not a member of any party) may join a party up to noon the day before the primary (Monday, April 1).
