Animal Control Officer
The job of animal control officer is governed by the Animal Welfare Act. It is to prevent cruelty to dogs and other animals as well as to enforce the laws described therein. The laws are there for the benefit of the animals as well as the people. The Connecticut Department of Agriculture oversees state and local regulations.
Some of the job duties are:
- Investigating cruelty cases
- Nuisance and roaming dogs
- Licensing violations

- All animal activity
Please note: If you see a fawn that appears to be sleeping and abandoned, please do not touch it......mom is nearby and watching. If a fawn is up and crying, keep your distance and give mom a chance to return. If crying continues for several hours, contact Animal Control!
