- What are the transfer station hours?
The transfer station is open every day, except Thursday and Sunday, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. It is located on Clark Road, off Nettleton Hollow. Resident permits are available through the tax collector's office or you may obtain a short-term permit for your contractor's use at the Selectman's Office.
- Do I need a permit to install or make a change to my driveway?
Yes, if your driveway is on a "town" road, an application must be obtained at the Selectman's Office for any new or changed driveway. If you front on a "state" road, you must contact the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation in Thomaston, telephone 860-283-4973.
- How about having my septic cleaned?
You or your contractor may obtain a septic permit at the Selectman's Office. Since septic waste is taken to Kent, a check for $85.00 should be made payable to the Town of Kent.
- What about a dead tree?
If there are wires involved, this should be reported directly to CL&P. For other trees, it must be determined if they are on your property or in the town right-of-way. This is done through surveys, deed descriptions or at the judgment of the First Selectman.
- My organization is planning a raffle.
State-required applications are available through the Selectman's office. Phyllis will assist you.
- Are Town buildings available for use?
Bryan Memorial Town Hall, the pavilion at Washington Primary School and the Senior Center are available. Applications are at the Selectman's office. Insurance is required.
- Pot hole, fallen tree or dead animal on my road?
Call us and we will relay your message to our road foreman, Roger Cannavaro, at 868-7986. If you are on a state road, we will relay your message to the State D.O.T.
- Do I need a pistol permit?
Yes! Call our resident trooper's office for initial application. Once approved, the Selectman's Office will provide a local permit for carrying a pistol in town. You must apply for a state permit if you are carrying your pistol over the town line.
- Meeting dates and hours?
All must be posted with our town clerk, Sheila Anson. Call her directly at 868-2786 or check the Town Calendar area of this web site for detailed information.
