www.WashingtonCT.org The Town of Washington, Connecticut Depot Study Meetings |
Washington Planning Commission Depot Study Meetings -- 10 a.m. Saturday, August 19th and 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 25th. Walking tours of the village area will begin on Bryan Memorial Town Hall steps one hour before each meeting. The public discussions to be held on Saturday, Aug. 19 at 10am and on Friday Aug. 25 at 7:30 will be preceded by a walking tour of the village area and River Front Loop (formerly the old town garage). Planning Commission members will guide these tours and maps will be available. Each tour will begin at Bryan Memorial Town Hall one hour before the meeting times.
The Public Discussion sessions will be moderated by David Werkhoven, who has been a resident of Washington for many, many years. He was a former teacher at Shepaug and very active in the baseball program. The public is invited to offer suggestions and discuss three topics: Parking, Pedestrian Accessibility (including Greenways and walking paths) and the temporary uses of the River Front Loop.
Attendees can participate in the process of creating a unified vision that will help define any future Depot development in a direction that is in the best interests of the Town and its residents. Each session will be of the same structure and content, so citizens might want to attend only one discussion.
The Planning Commission values citizen ideas and participation. If you are unable to attend but would like to share your thoughts please feel free to forward your comments in writing by email to janet.hill@washingtonct.org or by regular mail to the Washington Planning Commission, P.O. Box 383, Washington Depot, CT 06794. To review the initial Depot Study report prior to the public discussions, please visit the Town website at www.washingtonct.org. [See Depot Study.]
Dimitri Rimski, Planning Commission member, reminds citizens of Washington: "Remember, to achieve the goal of creating a unifying plan that best serves the future of the Depot, we need your input. We look forward to seeing you at one of these discussion sessions."
