Tax Exemptions for Veterans

Residents who are honorably discharged veterans, having served at least 90 cumulative days during wartime or who have a disability rating from the Veteran's Administration, may be eligible for some tax exemption. Their DD-214 or honorable discharge must be filed with the Town Clerk by September 30 for exemption on the upcoming Grand List.


Additional Veterans Exemptions

Persons currently receiving a veteran's exemption may be eligible for an additional exemption if they meet these income requirements.

       Single - $35,300   Married - $43,000

There is no age requirement for the additional exemption, but Washington residency is required. Applications are available in the Assessor's Office, and are accepted from February 1 - October 1.

Additional Veterans Exemption application

Active-duty service persons may apply each year to have the value exempted of one motor vehicle registered in their name.
